Who designed Mt. Auburn and Forest Hills Cemeteries? Join us for a joyful tribute honoring General Henry A.S. Dearborn (1783-1851), the pioneer horticulturist who created these two magnificent sacred landscapes in Greater Boston. As a prime mover in the founding of Mount Auburn (1831) and as the designer of Forest Hills (1848), the tireless Dearborn embraced
the popular concept of the rural cemetery. Weather permitting, the lecture will
conclude with a short walk to pay respects to the General at his family lot on Mount Dearborn overlooking Lake Hibiscus. Forest Hills Cemetery – Forsyth Chapel, 95 Forest Hills Avenue. $15 for advance tickets, $17 at the door.
