They may have been inherited from your grandparents, uncovered in a thrift shop or picked at a local yard sale.

But have you ever wonder what that prized antique tools collection accumulating in the back of your shed is worth?

This weekend Bill McQuitty of Bill’s Tool will be on hand at the WoodStock Woodworking Show to take a look at your heritage hand tools.

“You can bring your antique tools to the show and get an appraisal,” explained show organizer Gina Downs, “He might buy them, but at least you know what they are worth.”

The Woodstock Woodworking Show, formerly known as the Woodstock Wood Show, returns from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.

Canada’s oldest consumer woodworking show is designed to celebrate everything and anything to do with wood for hobbyist and professionals at the Woodstock Fairgrounds.

“When you leave the show you will feel inspired and motivated to get into your wood shop and start creating. From the show woodworkers will gain new insights, new techniques and meet with manufacturers,” Downs said. “All the industry experts are here to help you learn and develop your skills.”

Celebrity chainsaw carvers Carver Kings of HGTV will also return again this weekend and visitors can purchase their work.

Described as the granddaddy of all woodworking shows, Downs said visitors to the show can check out the latest hand tools, power tools, design trends, finishes and wood kits.

Exhibitors include Federated Tool and Supply of London who are considered the largest tool supplier company in Ontario.

Canadian Woodworkers, located in Winnipeg, will also return for a second year to show off their woodworking machinery.

This year’s show will be putting an emphasis on learning, offering twice the amount of seminars than last year.

Rob Cosman from New Brunswick, also known as Canada’s Hand Tool Coach, will be putting on two different seminars.

“Rob is an amazing resource and eager to share his love of woodworking,” Downs said.

Other seminars include veneering, band saw techniques, carving and scroll sawing.

The Ontario Woodcarving Championship runs throughout the three days of the show and is open to youth levels in a variety of categories.
