After opening the first Azerbaijan Trade House in Minsk, created to support the promotion of national goods, Belarus also intends to establish its Trade House in Baku.

General Director of the Grodno Branch of the Belarus Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mechislav Kostyuk told Trend that his country is interested in opening a Trade House in Azerbaijan.

Kostyuk stressed that if the authorities support this intention, Belarus is ready to open a Trade House in Baku or in any other region of Azerbaijan, adding that the opening of Azerbaijan’s Trade House in Belarus significantly increased interest in Azerbaijani products in the country.

Azerbaijan’s first ever Trade House was opened in the Belarusian capital Minsk, on May 26.

Touching upon the development of trade relations between the two countries, Kostyuk noted that Belarus is interested in the supply of Azerbaijani products.

“We want to supply citrus and dried fruits from Azerbaijan to Belarus,” he added. “Grodno Tobacco Factory Neman OJSC, one of our biggest tobacco factories, is also interested in buying raw material from Azerbaijan. In turn, we are ready to offer Azerbaijan a wide range of quality meat and dairy products, in particular, dried baby food.”

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Belarus established in 1993 but two countries started to get close during past decade.

Belarus mainly exports to Azerbaijan the production of machinery, woodworking, tires, foodstuff, medicine, household appliances, dishes and other goods, meanwhile Azerbaijan exports to Belarus the products made of aluminum, products of petrochemistry, engineering and agriculture.

Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with Belarus amounted to $113.15 million in January-October 2017, over $100 million of which accounted for the import of Belarusian products, according to the State Customs Committee.
