We are very proud of our Santa which takes pride of place in the reception area. This was carved by our Assistant Premises Manager, Rob Isherwood in 1993. The sculpture took Rob 3 months to create and was inspired by a very quaint picture of a porcelain figure of Father Christmas. It also includes 2 drummers in each pocket. Many years ago, Rob lived in a cottage with an open fire and used to chop wood for the fire. He didn’t like seeing the sycamore tree waste and thought it would be a good idea to make something out of it and so bought himself a set of wood carving tools. Rob said “You would be surprised—it was not too difficult to make and if you tackle a job with confidence and commitment you will be surprised at what you can achieve. I find it very therapeutic and feel a great sense of achievement” Over the years Rob who is completely self-taught, has completed many other projects including making a ship out of wood.
