Robert "Bob" Hosking

1935-2024

Robert "Bob" Hosking, 88, passed away peacefully on April 24 in Davenport, WA, where he lived for more than 30 years.

Bob was born in 1935 to Homer and Ruth "Mim" Hosking in Buffalo, NY. He attended the University of Maine where he met his beloved wife of 63 years, Pam. As a forestry major, he spent summers in Idaho and fell in love with the area.

He also was an ROTC student and joined the U.S. Army in 1957 where he was a lieutenant stationed at Fort Bragg, NC.

After being honorably discharged in 1959, he joined the U.S. Forest Service, and the couple drove across the country to Clarkia, ID. Later, the couple moved to Osburn, ID, where son Tim was born in 1962 and Bob in 1965.

The forests of northeast Washington called, and the family relocated to Republic in 1971. Bob was the head forester for mills in the region. He also served on the Ferry County Memorial Hospital board.

The couple eventually ended up in Davenport where they maintained a cabin on Lake Roosevelt. Bob took up golf and was a member of the Harrington Golf & Country Club where he served a term as president. When he wasn't on the course, he was in his garage woodworking. Many family members cherish furniture pieces made by his hands.

Bob also enjoyed walking through the woods with his faithful dog, socializing with friends, fishing, and hunting with his children and grandchildren. He was a friend to everyone, had a winning smile, and loved a good joke.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pam, and his sister, Nancy. He is survived by his sister, Susan, his sons Tim (Sheina) and Bob (Sandy), grandchildren Kendra (Andy), Kylee (Cody) and Carter (Kenzie). He also is survived by his great-grandchildren, Colton, Addy, and Jolene.

Memorial Service were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM the First Presbyterian Church Davenport, WA.
