Golf Team Competes At Kitty Michael Invitational

The 45th annual Kitty Michael Golf Invitational is underway at the El Conquistador Golf Club in northern Puerto Rico, with the Bermuda contingent delivering a robust performance in the initial round of the international ladies’ team event.

More than 100 amateur women golfers are competing in the 54-hole tournament. Established in 1979, the invitational aims to advance the women’s game, cultivate international relationships, and promote goodwill. Participating teams include those from Central America, the Caribbean, and North America, featuring entries from Panama, St. Croix, Curacao, Puerto Rico, and various clubs from the United States and Canada.

The Bermuda team is comprised of captain Linda Down, vice captain Tracy Burgess, Katrin Burnie, Liz Carpio, Carine Brule, Valerie Nearon, Angela Cook, Katyna Rabain, Lesley Wollmann, and Tracy Nash.

Following the conclusion of day one play, Bermuda holds a strong second-place position overall, with a cumulative score of +38. The team trails early leaders Southwest Florida by three strokes.

Individually, Bermuda’s vice captain Tracy Burgess posted an impressive opening round, securing a tie for the top spot on the individual leaderboard. Burgess recorded a score of 9-over par, matching Jennifer Polich of Southwest Florida. Bermuda’s Carine Brule also distinguished herself, finishing tied for fifth place with a score of 12-over par.
