LDVA to host Women Veterans Symposium in celebration of Women Veterans Day

LDVA TO HOST WOMEN VETERANS SYMPOSIUM IN CELEBRATION OF WOMEN VETERANS DAY

BATON ROUGE, La.—The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Charlton Meginley, Col (Ret), USAF invites all women veterans, and veteran supporters, to attend the Women Veterans Symposium in celebration of Women Veterans Day. The symposium, in partnership with the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, will be held on Thursday, June 12 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at American Legion Post 38 in Baton Rouge.

“While we specifically honor Louisiana’s 30,000 women veterans on Women Veterans Day, we are thankful for their military service every day, as well as their service to their families and communities,” said Secretary Meginley. “At the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs, we serve all generations of veterans with dignity and respect while striving to provide the highest quality programs and services alongside our federal, state and local partners to make Louisiana a veteran-friendly state, and our women veterans are no exception.”

Marine Corps veteran and Veterans Affairs Commission member Elena Branzaru will serve as guest speaker, in addition to remarks from Fernando Rivera, director of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in New Orleans. Their remarks will be accompanied by networking, access to veteran resources and presentation of honors.

The purpose of the Women Veterans Symposium is to honor Louisiana’s women veterans for the sacrifices they have made through their military service. Their contributions are immeasurable, and it is fitting that we gather to celebrate their accomplishments on Women Veterans Day.
